Uber Offering Sweet Summer Deal For Commuters

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Could riding in a hired car for a month actually cost less than riding the subway? That's the latest aggressive pricing offer from ride-hail service Uber.

For the rest of the summer, Uber is selling passes that are good for two, four or eight weeks of unlimited rides.

The four-week pass is $79, which is about $37 cheaper than a 30-day Metro-Card.

The pass is good on the uberPOOL service, where you share the ride with other users.

It's good during weekday morning and evening rush hours for any destination in Manhattan below 125th Street.

Uber is fighting off challenges from lower-cost ride service, such as Lyft.
