Knicks Sign Forward Maurice Ndour

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The Knicks have signed forward Maurice Ndour, an NBA Summer League standout a year ago.

The 6-foot-9 forward averaged 9.6 points and 4.8 rebounds in five games for the Knicks in the Summer League in 2015. He had 23 points and six rebounds in a win over the 76ers.

His impressive showing landed him a contract with the Dallas Mavericks, who outbid the Knicks. But Ndour was waived after suffering a leg injury in October.

Ndour, 24, then spent the 2015-16 season with Real Madrid in the EuroLeague.

His contract with the Knicks is for two years, ESPN reported.

"God has blessed me with a new opportunity and I will be taking my talents to the @nyknicks," Ndour posted on Instagram on Wednesday. "I am very grateful and excited to put on the blue and orange #2 jersey."

A native of Senegal, Ndour played high school basketball in Japan. He then played for Monroe College in the Bronx before transferring to Ohio University.

Ndour will be reunited with his Real Madrid teammate Willy Hernangomez, who signed with the Knicks earlier this month.

New York now has 14 players under contract, one short of the NBA maximum.
