Power Problem Briefly Halts LIRR Service Between Penn Station, Jamaica

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The Long Island Rail Road was halted for some time between Penn Station and Jamaica Friday evening due to a power problem.

Service was suspended in both directions at 8 p.m. Limited service had resumed by 8:40 p.m.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority blamed a third rail power problem for the suspension.

The city subway system was still honoring LIRR tickets for the E Train between Penn Station and Jamaica and the No. 7 train at Woodside as of 8:40 p.m.
