Woman Dies After Flying Through Back Window In Queens Car Accident

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A mother is dead and her young daughter is critically injured following a car accident in Queens Sunday.

1010 WINS' Roger Stern reported that witnesses saw a BMW SUV speeding through a stop sign at more than 50 miles an hour, and crashing into a Toyota as it was turning left from 115th Avenue onto 130th Street in South Ozone Park.

A witness said the woman's skull was split open.

"The mother and daughter were in the back seat, they flew out through the back window," the witness said. "The mother went pinned under the driver's side tire and the daughter went between the two trees."

The mother died, while the 9-year-old girl was rushed into surgery in critical condition. The girl's father, who was driving the car, is in stable condition.

The SUV hit three parked cars before stopping. That driver suffered minor injuries.

The investigation into the fatal accident is ongoing.
