7 Children Hospitalized After Lynbrook SUV Crash

LYNBROOK, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A two-car accident sent seven children to the hospital on Long Island Monday afternoon.

As WCBS 880's Mike Xirinachs reported, eyewitnesses said a pickup truck broadsided a sport-utility vehicle with seven children inside and two adults.

It happened around 1 p.m. Monday in Lynbrook, at Peninsula Boulevard and Lyon Place.

All seven children, ranging in age from 9 to 14, were brought to area hospitals. One was airlifted in serious condition with head trauma.

The lone occupant of the pickup truck and the two adults in the SUV were not seriously injured.

Charges had not yet been filed late Monday as police continued their investigation.
