Beauty Trends: Hair Styles & Makeup Tips To Beat The Heat

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork)-- All these hot days can make a mess of your hair and practically melt the makeup right off your face.

CBS2's Cindy Hsu has the beauty tips you need to cool off and keep you looking fresh.

COOL DOWN YOUR SKINCARE PRODUCTS

COLD PRODUCTS

Beauty expert Jeanette Zinno beats the heat by cooling down her skincare products. She cools down her face serum, lotion and eye gel to refresh her face.

"So you just want to pop it in the freezer for a few minutes right before you put it on in the morning or at night," Zinno said. "It's also going to de-puff under your eyes, which is a great tip for the summer."

REPLACE HEAVY FOUNDATIONS WITH LIGHTER ONES

Switch out any heavy foundation for a lighter one or even a tinted lotion with sunscreen. You can always nix the foundation and go for a highlighter and a bronzer to give you a warm glow.

BREAK OUT THE LIGHT LIP COLORS

Summer's the time to put away the dark heavy lipstick and go for light colored glosses.

CARRY BLOTTING PAPERS WITH YOU

"Hydrating sprays and blotting papers are going to be your best friend this summer, especially when you're commuting on the subway," Zinno added.

Now to the hair.

BRAID YOUR HAIR

Sylist Tony Kane, of Haven Spa, said braids are quick and easy. Secure both braids to the top of the head and this is a style you can do with wet or dry hair.

"And then if you want you can just take it over and then you can just use a bobby pin," he said. "And then you're ready to be on-the-go in just two seconds, just to rush out."

TRY OUT A TOP KNOT

The top knot is also quick and easy. Just flip your head and make a ponytail at the top and twist around, securing with bobby pins.

If you get frizzy hair in the heat, he said to try anti-humidity spray. For shorter hair, Kane said pull it back in a little ponytail and if it's super hot bring up all the loose pieces and twist a little ponytail on the back.

DON'T FORGET THE HAIRSPRAY!

"Put a little spray in and then you're actually ready for dinner or happy hour when you're done sweating it out at work, so it works out," he said.

All the hair styles take under 10 minutes. One last make up tip: Go for waterproof make-up, which is available for everything including mascara to eye shadow.
