Sarah Silverman: 'To The Bernie Or Bust People, You're Being Ridiculous'

PHILADELPHIA (CBSNewYork) -- Actress and comedian Sarah Silverman laid into Bernie Sanders supporters at the Democratic National Convention Monday night.

Some in the crowd began to turn on Silverman, a Sanders supporter, after she said she will vote for Hillary Clinton.

"As I continued to be inspired and moved to action by the ideals set forth by Bernie – who will never stop fighting for us – I am proud to be a part of Bernie's movement and a vital part of that movement is making absolutely sure that Hillary Clinton is our next president of the United States," Silverman said.

After chants of "Bernie, Bernie" started filling the Wells Fargo Center, Silverman shot back, "To the 'Bernie or Bust' people, you're being ridiculous."

The pro-Clinton part of the crowd cheered in response.

Earlier in her remarks, Silverman said Clinton brought Sanders' passions into the Democratic Party's platform.

"Hillary heard the passion of the people, the people behind Bernie and brought those passions into the party's platform and that is the process of democracy at it's very best," the actress stated.

She also joked that she was "feeling the Bern" and "put some cream on it."

It's been a rough first day for the DNC as Sanders' backers remain divided on whether to put their support behind Clinton.
