NYPD Cops Help Man Pull Off Surprise Proposal Through Fake Traffic Stop

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork)-- Sorah Oppen thought her boyfriend was being stopped in Far Rockaway by New York City Department police officers who wanted to search his car for drugs and weapons.

However, when the truck was opened there were balloons and flowers and 22-year-old Yehuda Coriat asked her to marry him.

The man thanked the officers for helping him stage the surprise. Video of the proposal was uploaded to YouTube.

Coriat told the New York Post that officers from the 101st Precinct agreed to do it, wearing their uniforms while off-duty and borrowing department vehicles.

There's no word yet on how the NYPD feels about the staged surprise, but the department told 1010 WINS' Roger Stern they are looking into it.
