NYPD Detective In Trouble For Rants On Facebook

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- An NYPD detective was in trouble with the department Monday after a series of rants on social media.

As WCBS 880's Peter Haskell reported Monday, Detective Gregory Gordon's Facebook page reportedly included a string of racially insensitive remarks and nasty comments about Mayor Bill de Blasio's wife, Chirlane McCray.

The New York Daily News reported that Gordon referred to McCray as a "former crack addict," and also went on a rant against police Commissioner Bill Bratton when the commissioner declined an offer for Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump to speak to a roll call.

"So he is has basically made a fool of himself in a very public place," said police Commissioner Bill Bratton.

Bratton said Gordon is in hot water.

"At the same time, he may be in significant violation of our department patrol procedures and protocols, which are very specific as to what officers can or cannot do on social media," Bratton said.

Bratton said Gordon is no longer working on active cases.
