Former Knicks Coach Derek Fisher Working On Comeback As A Player
After being unceremoniously fired as the head coach of the Knicks in the middle of last season, it appears that Derek Fisher is ready to attempt an NBA comeback - but not at the position you might think.
Fisher, who began his coaching career in 2014 after ending his playing career with the Oklahoma City Thunder in the spring of that year, is reportedly trying to make a comeback as a player and not as a coach.
On Tuesday, Fisher posted a video of him practicing on the hardwood to Facebook with the caption "Working on being a better me. Loving every minute of this journey #inthelab #imnotdoneyet#workingonme #biggerthanbasketball#butilovethisgame"
Additionally, ESPN has reported that Fisher is "exploring options and expressing interest in playing again," both in the NBA and in the Chinese professional league.
In his last season with the Thunder, Fisher logged 1,428 minutes and scored 425 points, which actually made him the No. 6 scorer on the team that year.
Fisher, who will turn 42 next Tuesday, Aug. 9, would be the oldest player in the NBA.
Bryan Altman is, for some reason, an unabashed fan of the Rangers, Jets and Mets. If he absolutely had to pick a basketball team it would be the Knicks, but he'd gladly trade them for just one championship for any of his other three teams.
