New Yorkers Enjoy Fun In The Sun At Summer Streets Festival

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- New Yorkers hit the streets Saturday to take in the fun as the city's Summer Streets festival officially began.

On a seven-mile stretch of Park Avenue, you'll be able to enjoy activities like "pop-up yoga" and cycling or you can get a bit adventurous with  zip-lining or sliding down one of the biggest water slides in the city.

And in the dog days of summer, pets and their owners are taking advantage of the freedom the annual festival brings.

In its ninth year, Summer Streets is sponsored by the Department of Transportation and doesn't really have a particular theme.

But if you're tuned into Rio this year, you can find a very fitting activity down on Astor Place: Tacing against team USA's Allyson Felix.

"You can't be as fast as she, she's amazing," one person said.

The enormous street fair stretching from the Brookyn Bridge to Central Park starts at 7 a.m. for the next two Saturdays. For more information, click here.
