Car Slams Into Bus Stop On Union Turnpike In New Hyde Park

NEW HYDE PARK, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Multiple people were injured Tuesday afternoon when a car slammed into a bus stop in New Hyde Park.

At 5:10 p.m., the 92-year-old woman driver plowed through the bus stop on the eastbound Union Turnpike near New Hyde Park Road and the Lake Success Shopping Center, Joe Biermann reported from Chopper 2.

Paramedics were seen triaging three people in ambulances following the accident, Biermann reported. The driver was also injured, Biermann reported.

The injured victims were all taken to Northwell Health North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, Nassau County police said.

None of the injuries in the accident were life-threatening and most appeared minor, police said.

The bus stop was demolished, with only a mess of mangled metal left after the accident.

Late Tuesday, there were no charges or citations against the driver.
