6-Year-Old Boy Raises Thousands For Children's Cancer Charity Run

PLAINVIEW, N.Y. (CBSNewYork)-- A 6-year-old boy is the one of the top fundraisers for a local children's charity run in New York.

Eytan Bennet, who attends Stratford Elementary Road School in Plainview, is bringing in major donations for the eighth annual Runyon 5K. The cancer research charity run takes places on Sunday, August 21.

"He is a very sensitive and caring individual, which certainly shows always, but especially in his dedication to raising money for this wonderful cause," his mother, Debra Bennet, told the Plainview Patch. "He just started asking everyone he knows. It's become something he's excited about."

Eytan has raised over $3,000 so far, placing in the top four individual fundraisers as of Wednesday.

Eytan said he is a Yankees fan and excited to be able to attend the 5k run/walk at Yankee Stadium.
