Police: Man Robbed 14 Fast Food, Convenience Stores In Suffolk County

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A man has been arrested in connection to up to 14 robberies targeting fast food locations and convenience stores in Suffolk County.

According to police, the suspect struck seven Dunkin' Donuts locations, two McDonalds locations, two 7-Eleven locations, two CVS locations and a Subway restaurant between June 16 and August 2, 2016.

The majority of the robberies happened in South Shore neighborhoods, including Medford, Islip, Bay Shore, Oakdale and Lindenhurst, police said. A McDonald's in Miller Place was also targeted.

In each incident, the suspect acted as if he was going to purchase a product, then would jump over the counter and remove cash when the register was open, police said.

Donald Gennarelli, 25, was arrested on Wednesday in Islip in connection to the spree, while driving with a suspended license, police said.

Police recognized Gennarelli from surveillance video as someone they has previously encountered in traffic stops, WCBS 880's Mike Xirinachs reported.

He faces of charges of petit larceny and unlicensed operation of a vehicle, police said.

Gennarelli is expected to be arraigned in court on Thursday.
