Boomer & Carton: Mets Dysfunction, 'Pitch Counts Matter,' And Much More

Subscribe to the Boomer & Carton Podcast »

With Jacob deGrom not himself and Asdrubal Cabrera failing to make it to San Francisco in time to play, the Mets began their four-game series against the Giants with an ugly 10-7 loss on Thursday night.

Adding to the Amazins' despair, following the game we got word that Steven Matz will miss his start Friday due to shoulder soreness. In his last outing, the young left-hander, who has been battling bone spurs in his pitching elbow, flirted with a no-hitter and threw a total of 106 pitches. The latter fact prompted Boomer to point out during the show open that "pitch counts matter."

So Boomer and Craig had plenty to discuss as the final show of the work week got underway.

You know the drill, folks. It's Friday, so start actin' like it.
