Police: Men Wanted In String Of Violent Robberies In Brooklyn

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police said a group of men is being sought in connection with a string of violent robberies in Brooklyn this month.

The first incident happened around 9:40 p.m. on Aug. 16. Police said the men walked up to a 23-year-old man in the area of Classon Avenue and Clifton Place, threatened to assault him and then took items from the victim's pockets.

The group then struck four times in the early morning hours of Aug. 22, according to police.

Around 1:15 a.m. that morning, police said they said they walked up to a 23-year-old man near Willoughby Avenue and Myrtle Avenue.

Police said they told the victim one of the men was armed with a gun while the others assaulted him before taking his backpack and cell phone.

Less than 30 minutes later, they pushed a 43-year-old man to the ground in the area of Lafayette Avenue and Grand Avenue and took his property, police said.

Then around 4:45 a.m., police said they threatened to assault a 37-year-old woman near Water Street and Pearl Street before taking her cell phone and purse.

About an hour later, they assaulted a 25-year-old man in the area of Concord Street and Bridge Street and took his backpack, police said.

The group was seen on surveillance video in the area of the first incident on Aug. 16. Police describe them only as being black man in their 20s.
