Women's Rights Activists Bare Their Breasts In New York City To Celebrate 9th Annual 'Go Topless Day'

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Women's rights activists marched topless in New York City and dozens of other cities on Sunday to celebrate the ninth annual "Go Topless Day."

WCBS 880's Stephanie Colombini reported the crowd was mostly made up of men ogling the women baring their breasts for topless pride.

Dave Gould and his friend from Massaqequa told WCBS 880 they attended the event for their fourth year.

"We come down to back them up and see the sights of course," Gould said. "If I didn't tell you that, I'd be lying, OK?"

Tori McInerny from New Jersey said she wished more females had turned out to show their support. She didn't march, but was sporting a revealing tank top.

"I absolutely hate wearing clothing and my nipples are frequently out and I would probably still be wearing this if this event wasn't going on," McInerny said.

She added that she does feel stigmatized.

"Yes, and I like it because one day I'm gonna be famous and they're going to look back and those measly photos they took of me they're gonna sell for millions," McInerny said.

The rally was to honor the 96th anniversary of Women's Equality Day and to support the passage of the Equal Rights Amendment.
