High Bacteria Levels Put 8 NJ Beaches, 4 LI Beaches, On Bathing Alert
LONG BEACH ISLAND, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Eight beaches in New Jersey are now on alert after growing bacteria levels that make the water hazardous for swimming.

Seven of those beaches are on Long Beach Island, while another is in Neptune.
Four beaches in Suffolk County, Long Island also remain closed due to bacteria levels:
- Tanner Beach - Copaigue
- Harbor Property Owner's Assoc. - Copaigue
- Lake Ronkonkoma Beach - Islip
- Peconic Dunes County Park - Southold
Officials advise to be on the lookout if traveling to those areas.
