NYPD: 36-Year-Old Man Shot In Car, Crashes After Attempting To Drive Away

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork)-- A 36-year-old man is in serious, but stable condition, after police said he was shot multiple times in East Harlem early Saturday.

The incident happened on East 104th Street just before 1:30 a.m. Investigators said the man was struck twice in the chest and once in the arm as he sat in his car, 1010 WINS' Roger Stern reported. He tried driving away, but crashed into a parked car on East 119th Street.

The man is being treated at Harlem Hospital.

"It's surprising, it puts me on edge a little bit," one Harlem resident said.

Another person says he knows there's been gunfire in the area, but still thought he could walk around safely at night. Now he's not so sure.

Police said they're talking to a suspect in the shooting, but that no arrests have been made.
