Woman Who Struck Landscaper In Ridge, L.I. Charged With Driving On Drugs

RIDGE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A woman has been charged with driving under the influence of drugs after police said she slammed into a landscaper in Ridge, Long Island.

Around 11:50 a.m. Tuesday, Brianna Hassett, 24, of Wading River, was heading east on Route 25 in a 2005 Cadillac, Suffolk County police said.

Hassett struck a landscaper who was cutting a lawn on the corner of Route 25 and Pleasant View Road, police said.

The landscaper, Anibal Aceituno-Perez, 52, of Flanders, was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead in critical condition, police said.

Hassett was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, police said. She was being held at the Suffolk County Police Fourth Precinct late Tuesday and was to be arraigned in First District Court in Central Islip on Wednesday.
