Rutgers Resumes Classes On Cook/Douglass Campuses After Power Outage

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Power has been restored on the Rutgers University Cook and Douglass campuses after a series of outages Wednesday canceled some classes and closed some buildings in New Brunswick.

The university said classes on the Cook/Douglass campuses are resuming Thursday.

The outages Wednesday affected about 90 buildings, including 39 residence halls. As many as 3,000 students had to sleep on cots in a gym.

It's not clear what caused the power problems. All other Rutgers' campuses were open and operated on normal schedules.
