Jets' Fitzpatrick Named AFC Offensive Player Of Week, Giants' Jenkins Wins NFC Special Teams Honor

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Ryan Fitzpatrick's monster game against the Buffalo Bills on Thursday night has earned the Jets quarterback AFC Offensive Player of the Week honors, while the Giants' Janoris Jenkins has been named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week.

In a 37-31 victory at Buffalo, Fitzpatrick completed 24 of 34 passes for 374 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions. He also rushed for 21 yards on five carries.

It's the third time Fitzpatrick has been selected Player of the Week since joining the Jets last season. He also won it in Week 14 of 2015 (263 yards, three TD passes against Tennessee) and Week 16 (296 yards, three TDs vs. New England).

Jenkins accounted for the Giants' lone touchdown in Sunday's 16-13 home win over the New Orleans Saints when he scooped up a blocked field goal and returned it 65 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter. Jonathan Hankins was the one who blocked Wil Lutz's 38-yard attempt.

The big play came in just Jenkins' second game with the Giants. The former Rams cornerback was signed as a free agent in March.
