Victor Cruz On WFAN: Beckham Needs To Learn How To Use His Emotions For Good

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- Victor Cruz says Odell Beckham Jr. needs to learn how to better channel his emotions.

WFAN's Mike Francesa asked Cruz on Tuesday, a day after the Giants lost to the Vikings 24-10, whether he worries about Beckham's emotions on the field. Beckham was penalized for taunting after making a second-quarter reception against the Vikings.

"I just think he has to learn how to control it and use it for good," Cruz said. "I think he has to go into games understanding that opponents are going to try to get under his skin. They're going to try to do things to get him off of his game. And the minute that he succumbs to those things that they do is when he starts to look bad and do the things that may look negative on the film and may look negative when the refs see it and give him those penalties and things like that.

"Get your payback by making plays," Cruz added.

Cruz also Beckham should not be overly concerned if he's not been targeted much during some games, noting that opposing defenses are game-planning to stop him.

Beckham had just three receptions for 23 yards against the Vikings.

"I've been there, those days where they're going to take you out of the game and other people have to step up and perform," Cruz said. "And I think that's what, especially us as a receiving corps, this is what we thrive on. We thrive on the aspect that if you take one of us away, someone else is going to flourish."
