Early-Morning Bay Ridge Bodega Shooting Leaves 4 Hurt

BROOKLYN, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Four people were shot at a bodega in Bay Ridge early Saturday morning, police said.

Three men approached M&S Mini Market on 3rd Avenue shortly before 4 a.m. Two of them brandished a black handgun and fired six gunshots, according to authorities.

"I'm scared, I'm shocked, like I couldn't even get up from my legs. It's scary," the overnight deli manager Mo Hassan told CBS2's Dave Carlin.

One of the victims, a 28-year-old man, suffered a gunshot wound to his left armpit and buttocks. A 44-year-old man was shot in the chin, and a 46-year-old man was shot in the back and stabbed in the stomach.

The fourth victim was a clerk who was cleaning the floor when the shots rang out. He suffered a gunshot wound to his ankle.

"He's calling me, 'Mo I need help, I got shot in the leg,'" Hassan said he helped drag the clerk to shelter behind the counter. "I laid him on the ground, I took a towel I put it on his leg and I kept holding it to stop his blood."

The victims were taken to Lutheran Medical Center in stable condition.

It was unclear what led to the shooting.

"I was surprised that it got from a little fight to something that could be life threatening," one resident said.

Police described the suspects as three Hispanic men in their mid- to late 20s. One was last seen wearing a white shirt, long black shorts and a black baseball cap. Another was wearing a black hoodie, blue jeans and black and white sneakers, and the third was wearing a black shirt, black pants and black shoes.
