The Greybarn complex, located off Route 110 in North Amityville, offers a retail-community experience for tenants, with luxury apartments surrounded by amenities like a Starbucks, a fitness center, an urgent care facility, as well as a dog park, swimming pools and an outdoor kitchen, WCBS 880's Sophia Hall reported.

"We wanted to create something that Long Island doesn't have," managing partner Mitchell Rechler said.

The complex is looking to expand on their retail space in upcoming months, with plans for a restaurant and a pharmacy.

"There is a tremendous demand on Long Island for rental apartments," Rechler said. "Long Island has half the inventory of rental apartments compared to Westchester, New Jersey, other suburban markets."

According to Greybarn's website, the complex also plans to host regular community events throughout the year, including pool parties and summer barbecues.

The complex will host 500 units total. Around 20 percent of the rentals will be designated to "affordable housing units," starting between $1,200 and $1,400 a month. Other rentals could cost upwards of $3,000 a month.

"It's really designed for younger people who are looking for a place to live, or people who are earning a certain amount that can't necessarily afford to buy a home," Rechler said.

One bedrooms range from 815 square-feet to 1,115 square-feet, while two bedrooms range from 1, 108 square-feet to 1,369 square-feet.
