3 To See At ACC: Meet Penny, Mango And Sky

New York (CBSNewYork) CBSNewYork.com and 1010 WINS have teamed up with Animal Care Centers of New York City to let you know about some of the adoptable animals looking for loving homes in the city's shelters, and, where ACC's mobile adoption units are headed with even more great pets.

This week, we're featuring Penny, Mango & Sky. Plus, ACC's "Race To The Right House" promotion continues where if you 'elect to adopt' a pet, the adoption fee is only $20.16 for animals six months and older.

Penny (A1070409) Celebrate National Pit Bull Awareness Day by adopting Penny! "Penny is a delightful, strawberry blonde, brindle, pit mix pup with a unique spotted nose!" her foster mom notes. "Her tail has been thumping since we left the Manhattan ACC. When we arrived home, Penny had a bath. She was patient while I bathed her with apricot puppy shampoo and she really liked being dried with a towel. Then it was time to explore her foster home. When she understood her dog bed is truly for her, she was so happy that she rolled over for a belly rub." Email fosters@nycacc.org if you're interested in adopting this approximately two-year-old "lovable, happy-go-lucky pup."

Mango (A1093328) "Mango is such a unique and loving cat!" says an ACC volunteer. This beautiful calico kitty with different-colored eyes "wants you to pet her immediately. She will roll on her side so you can pet the rest of her body!" She previously lived in a home with another cat, and the two were affectionate with each other. Meet Mango, who's about 4 years old, at ACC's Manhattan Care Center, 326 E. 110th Street.

Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is the only open-admissions animal shelter in New York City and takes in approximately 30,000 animals every year. ACC's  three Care Centers in Manhattan (326 East 110th Street), Brooklyn (2336 Linden Boulevard), and Staten Island (3139 Veterans Road West) are open for adoptions 12pm-8pm Monday thru Friday, and 10am-6pm Saturdays and Sundays.

If you're interested in one of the animals featured here, email ACC's Adoption team at adoption@nycacc.org with the animal's name and "A#", or head directly to the Care Center where the animal is located. Please note, animals featured here may already be placed by the time you arrive, but there are hundreds of great cats, dogs, and rabbits looking for loving homes every day! You can view available animals online, and at the Care Centers, ACC Adoption Counselors will help you find the best match.

Sky (A1087517)
"Sky is a tiny young Lionhead mix male with a real zest for life," notes an ACC volunteer. "This itty bitty guy is very alert, curious, and bright. He'll approach to sniff you, interact for a bit, then binky with delight at what he's done. At this stage of his life, he's more interested in fun than in affection and he seems to have a mischievous streak. Because he's such a busy guy and he's so little, his forever home will have to be carefully bunny-proofed. Sky is mostly white with dark brown ears and face markings and a long brown patch on his back. His large eyes look altogether too big for his young, diminutive head." Meet this adorable bunny, who's about 14 months old, at ACC's Manhattan Care Center, 326 E. 110th Street.

You can also meet your new best friend at ACC's Mobile Adoption Center, which travels throughout the city. (Note: dates and locations are subject to change. Information will be updated as quickly as possible.  Also check http://nycacc.org/Events.htm)
