Police: Man Puts Woman In Chokehold Before Trying To Rape Her In The Bronx

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are looking for a man who they said tried to rape a woman after putting her in a chokehold in the Bronx.

The 29-year-old victim told police she was walking into her home in Soundview just before 2 a.m. Tuesday when the man grabbed her from behind and put her in a chokehold, according to the NYPD.

Police said the suspect punched her in the face and tried to sexually assault her.

Police said he ran off after the victim fought back and kicked him several times.

The victim was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

The NYPD's Bronx Special Victim's Squad is investigating.
