Bloomfield High School Teacher Accused Of Sexually Assaulting 2 Students

BLOOMFIELD, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A man who teaches and coaches at Bloomfield High School is accused of sexually assaulting two students, according to the Essex County prosecutor's office and Bloomfield police.

Leo Donaldson, 30, of Bloomfield, formerly known as Leo Inglima, was arrested Thursday by members of the Essex County Prosecutor's Office Special Victims Unit.

The two teenage boys range in age from 15 to 17 years old, according to authorities.

CBS2 confirmed the teens are students at Bloomfield High School, where Donaldson teaches architecture and coaches track and cross-country.

In a statement posted on the school's website, administrators called the allegations "very serious and disturbing."

"Although I am unable to share more detailed information at this time, please know that we are deeply committed to the safety and welfare of your child," said Superintendent of Schools, Salvatore Goncalves. "We are working closely with the Prosecutor's Office as the matter continues to be the subject of an active investigation."

The alleged assaults took place at Donaldson's Bloomfield home and previous Jersey City residence in 2016 and 2015, authorities said.

CBS2's Alice Gainer reports the school is offering counseling to students who may need it.

He was charged with first-degree aggravated sexual assault, second-degree sexual assault by contact, third-degree aggravated criminal sexual contact and endangering the welfare of a child.

Bail has been set at $400,000.

Anyone with information that might assist in the investigation is asked to contact Captain Steve Roberts at (973) 753 -1130.
