3 Men Wounded In Lower East Side Shooting

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- An early-morning shooting in front of a bodega on the Lower East Side sent three men to the hospital Sunday.

As WCBS 880's Mike Smeltz reported, the shooting happened just after 6 a.m. at 135 Ridge St., in a quiet residential area of the Lower East Side.

Police said three men, all in their 20s, were shot following some type of quarrel with the suspected shooter.

Danny moved about two months onto the block of Ridge Street where the shooting happened, just south of Houston Street. He said the gunfire woke him up like a frightening alarm clock.

"I wasn't sure if it was a dream or not, but seeing the police here shows it wasn't a dream," Danny said. "It looks like something definitely happened."

All three of the men were hospitalized, and their conditions were reported as stable.

There was no description for the suspect late Sunday morning, but there are several apartment buildings with surveillance cameras pointed right where the shooting went down.
