Bono Honored On Glamour Magazine's 'Women Of The Year' List
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Glamour Magazine has named Bono as one of its "Women of the Year" for 2016.
The magazine is honoring the U2 singer for his "Poverty is Sexist" campaign, which advocates for education and AIDS protection for young girls around the world.
"By establishing Poverty Is Sexist, Bono is making it clear that powerful men can, and should, take on these deep-rooted issues," Glamour stated in its article on the musician.
Bono also teamed up with activist Bobby Shriver to launch the (RED) campaign in the early 2000s, an initiative aimed at raising AIDS awareness.
Other Glamour Magazine honorees include Olympic gymnast Simone Biles, International Monetary Fund chief Christine LaGarde, singer Gwen Stefani and three women who founded the "Black Lives Matter" movement.
