Man Stabbed In Buttocks In Alphabet City Attack

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A man was attacked and stabbed in the buttocks Thursday evening in Alphabet City, police said.

Police were called at 6:12 p.m. after the man was stabbed near East 5th Street and Avenue D, police said.

The man suffered a puncture wound to the right buttock, police said.

Police believe the victim was attacked by a group of about seven men. He was punched, kicked and eventually stabbed, police said.

The relationship between the victim and the assailants was not known, police said.

The man was taken to Bellevue Hospital Center in fair condition, police said.
