New Jersey Native Jon Bon Jovi Opens Up About Newest Album & Long-Lasting Marriage

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- New Jersey rock group Bon Jovi has a new album out, and frontman Jon Bon Jovi is revealing how he keeps his marriage to his high school sweetheart going strong.

Their lyrics have stood the test of time, and so has his hair, CBS2's Alice Gainer reports. But there is one thing that's changed: the lead guitarist.

"There's a member change in the band," Bon Jovi said. "Richie Sambora left the band 20 shows into the last tour. It's different because the personality is different."

It's hard to believe Bon Jovi has been making hits for 33 years. Now, the band is back with its 14th studio album, which has a theme of "integrity and re-birth."

Jon Bon Jovi sat down with Charlie Rose this week, who asked why the band isn't in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

"We have met all the prerequisites, and if you really want to be brutally honest, some of us have friends in the business and some of us have friends that are not such friends and then you have other people that are envious and jealous," Bon Jovi replied.

With or without a place in the hall of fame, the band has longevity, and so does Bon Jovi's 27-year marriage to his high school sweetheart, Dorothea.

"There is no secret. It's hard work and it's commitment to it, and I'm just a lucky guy. I got it right the first time, it's that simple," he said.

The couple met at Sayreville War Memorial High School and has four children.

In this week's People Magazine, the rocker says "somehow I became the poster boy for a long-married rock star. But I'll accept the mantle because I'm so happy."
