Companies Offer To Do Dirty Work For Parents And Clean Baby Strollers

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Cleaning a baby stroller can be challenging, especially after it's been pushed all across the city.

But some companies offer to do the dirty work for you.

"This was an opportunity to help parents take care of some of the chores that need to get done, and to give them time to spend with their little kids," CEO and Founder of Baby Bubbles NYC Seth Mittman told CBS2's Vanessa Murdock.

Mittman said he got the idea to suds up strollers during a visit to the doctor with his daughter, where strollers were lined up.

"Each one was dirtier than the next," he said. "We looked at each other, we thought there's got to be a way to clean them."

Each stroller is taken apart and put into a tub that was custom built to fit two buggies.

"You'll see the difference from how it looks now until when I'm done. You'll be like 'wow, it looks brand new,'" employee Jose Nunez said.

Even the wheels are disassembled to remove any hair that may be tangled in there. Then, everything is scrubbed down and steam cleaned. The final product gets wrapped up and delivered to your home, looking nearly new.

"That's most definitely hot," Bronx resident Latoya Farquatrson said of the service.

Some grandparents say they wish it was around back when they were raising children.

"I would have hired them on the spot 25 years ago," Leslie Strong said.

"It's absolutely awesome," a man agreed.

Maribeth Youngberg, of the Upper East Side, said she would definitely pay a professional.

"Yes, I don't want to do it myself," she said with a smile.

Prices start around $35 and go up to about $100, Murdock reported.

There are some other companies offering similar services, as well.
