Suspects Sought In Series Of Queens ATM, Cash Register Thefts
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are searching for three suspects wanted in connection with a series of daring ATM robberies in Queens.
Surveillance cameras caught the suspects at the Polanco Deli on Foch Boulevard on Oct. 26. Video shows one suspect reach behind the counter and yank out the cash register filled with $100.
But police said what they really wanted was the ATM.
"The lock is on the bottom...they couldn't take it," deli owner Nelson Polanco said.
Police want to question the suspects in connection with two other deli break-ins.
On Nov. 1, the suspects allegedly walked out with an ATM filled with $2,000 from the Denican Coffee Shop on 103rd Avenue. They also took about $500 from a shelf, police said.
Police say the suspects got inside by cutting the lock on a security gate outside. The deli owner said the cameras were not working at the time of the break in.
On Oct. 10, the suspects struck Johaen Deli on 210th Street and removed an ATM containing approximately $2,400. The owner told CBS2's Christine Sloan that the surveillance cameras were tampered with.
"They disconnect the camera," the owner said.
The suspects fled each time in an SUV.
