Search On For Suspect Who Robbed Girl, 12, In Coney Island, Brooklyn

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police late Thursday were searching for a teenage suspect who robbed a 12-year-old girl of her groceries and punched her in the face in Coney Island, Brooklyn.

Around 3:35 p.m. this past Monday, the boy came up to the girl from behind and grabbed her by the neck, police said.

The boy pulled the girl to an alley next to 2834 Stillwell Ave. and punched her in the face, police said. He took the girl's groceries and $3 in cash and fled, police said.

The girl suffered bruises to the face, police said.

The robber was described as a black male about 15 years old. He was last seen wearing black clothing and carrying a black book bag with a colorful pattern on it, police said.

Police released a surveillance photo and video.
