Long Island Officials Shut Down, Condemn Longtime Trouble Spot

CORAM, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A well-known eye-sore and trouble spot on Long Island has been shut down.

The Superstar Beverage beer distributor, located at 3723 Route 112 in Coram, has also been condemned by the Town of Brookhaven.

Suffolk Police Commissioner Tim Sini said the business was a hotbed of illegal activity.

"You had prostitution here, you had drug dealing, the sale of alcohol to underage individuals," Sini said.

Sini and other officials said the cleanup of the area is continuing.

"Town, police and county officials are going to stand with the community, work together and solve our public safety problem," Sini said.

"We do have a task force and we are addressing these problems," Legislator Sarah Anker said.
