Vance, O'Neill Announce Breakup Of Interstate Gun Running Ring

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance and NYPD Commissioner James O'Neill held a news conference on Monday, to announce the dismantling of a firearms ring.

The officials said they've taken over 100 firearms off the streets and charged four people in connection with the bust.

"Now as you can see the illegal gun trafficking trade remains lucrative, and it remains a significant public safety problem," Vance said.

The weapons were sold to undercover detectives over a period of less than four months. The weapons were sold out of the trunk of a car, and in one instance were sold just outside of the Port Authority Bus Terminal.

As 1010 WINS' Al Jones reported, Clyde Dixon, originally from Virginia Beach, was identified as the ringleader.
