Teen Fans Tackled After Taking Field At MetLife Stadium

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Two teen fans were tackled when they took to the field at MetLife Stadium Monday night during the game between the New York Jets and Indianapolis Colts.

With eight minutes and 24 seconds left to play in the third quarter, police say the two intoxicated 16-year-olds ran shirtless and covered in face paint onto the field.

They split up as one was taken down by a uniformed New Jersey State Police officer near the 25-yard line. The other was stopped at the 18 by a security guard.

The game play paused as Colts players gathered at the opposite side of the field while Jets players waited on the sidelines. The two teens were then escorted off the field in handcuffs. No players, personnel or fans were hurt.

MUST LISTEN: Harlan, Esiason Provide Memorable Radio Call At Jets Game

Video of the incident was excluded from the national game broadcast, but Westwood One's Kevin Harlan and Boomer Esiason provided the play-by-play.

"Ooooh! Did you see that tackle? Oooooh! And the other guy's knocked down!" said Harlan.

"They're actually hitting harder than the Jets defense," Esiason added.

While some see the incident as an issue, others say you only live once.

"I think it was amazing, the best thing of the game," fan Anthony Alicea told CBS2's Magdalena Doris. "Life is about chances. Either you take them or not."

"That's a problem at the stadium, controlling the drinking tolerance for underage," said another fan.

The teens were charged with disorderly conduct, obstruction and underage drinking, Doris reported. Because they are minors, police have not released their names.

CBS2 has reached out to MetLife for comment, but they have not called back.
