Area Children Among Those Chosen To Be Scholastic 'Kid Reporters'

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A new crop of "kid reporters" have been chosen by Scholastic to report the news by kids, for kids.

The pint-sized correspondents were picked from all over the globe, and last year they visited the White House for an interview with First Lady Michelle Obama.

"What is your best advice for boys and girls who dream of becoming president of the United States of America?" one boy asked.

This year, 300 children ranging in ages from 10 to 14 years old submitted entries.

Seventh-grader Sunaya, from the Palisades, was among those selected.

"Just amazing for me that I now get to share my knowledge with the world. News by kids, for kids," she told WCBS 880's Marla Diamond.

A sixth-grader from Hoboken was also chosen.

While she admires the first lady, she said, "If I can interview anyone, it would be Taylor Swift, because she's amazing."
