No One Hurt After Overnight Fire Destroys Home In Hauppauge

HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- No one was hurt after a fire completely destroyed a home in Hauppauge overnight.

The blaze broke out around 2 a.m. Friday on Joyce Avenue. The flames were so intense, they also destroyed a vehicle parked in the driveway.

It was a neighbor from across the street who called 911, CBS2's Janelle Burrell reported. The couple who lives there, who she said has owned the house for nearly 50 years, made it out safely.

"It's heartbreaking. They are the sweetest people in the world, it's just like my heart's breaking," the neighbor told WCBS 880's Sophia Hall. "They have a lot of family and a lot of support here, but they've lived here their whole lives."

The fire is not considered suspicious, but the cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
