6 Long Island Students Hospitalized After Eating Marijuana Candy Bar

LAKE RONKONKOMA, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Six Long Island high school students were treated at a hospital after eating candy that had marijuana in it.

The candy made the Sachem High School North students feel "uncomfortable" and were taken to Stony Brook University Medical Center as a precaution, district officials said in a press release.

Sachem Superintendent Dr. Ken Graham said the students are now feeling better.

The students knew what they were ingesting and this is not a criminal matter, but a school matter, WCBS 880's Sophia Hall reported.

Graham said they are reviewing the specifics of the situation and will address it appropriately.

"We encourage all parents to have conversations with their children about making healthy choices," said Graham. "Our schools are fortunate to have a number of resources available to support the wellbeing of students."
