Three Arrested In Multi-State Pickpocket Ring That Targeted Shoppers, Diners In Midtown

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A three person pickpocket ring came to the attention of the NYPD in June.

Surveillance video showed the group grabbing wallets out of unattended purses in restaurants and shops.

As 1010 WINS' Al Jones reported, nothing happened in July.

"Our understanding is those three individuals moved. They committed similar crimes in New Jersey and Ohio," Lt. Marco Gonzalez, the commanding officer of Manhattan North detectives said.

They were back in August, again in Midtown.

"Hustle and bustle in Midtown. They were able to blend in, they were able to pick up on individuals who were visiting," Lt. Gonzalez said.

In total they struck at least 8 times. Victor Lobos, 51, and Katherine Perez-Rojas, 25, were arrested and charged with grand larceny.

A third person was awaiting charges.
