Department of Sanitation Issues 'Snow Alert' For Sunday

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The New York City Department of Sanitation has issued an agency preparedness "snow alert" for Sunday at 3 p.m.

The agency specifies that this is not a forecast, but it indicates the potential for a snow event.

By calling the alert, the department can begin to prepare for a possible response by loading salt trucks, attaching plows, preparing tire chains, and notifying other city agencies and extra personnel as needed.
