'Non-Credible' Threat Reportedly Found Aboard Newark-Bound Flight
NEWARK (CBSNewYork) -- A threatening note that was reportedly found inside the bathroom stall of a United Airlines flight bound for Newark Liberty International Airport on Saturday is being treated as "non-credible," according to the Port Authority.
Reports indicated that the note was found on United Flight 443 from San Francisco to Newark.
"There was a non-specific threat made. The FAA is handling it," Jonathan Guerin with United told CBS News.
When passengers got off the plane in Newark, Port Authority police used bomb sniffing dogs to check the plane as a precaution.
Passengers told CBS2's Brian Conybeare they did not know about the possible threat.
Sources say federal investigators are trying to determine if there is a connection between the Newark incident and similar threats that affected a flight headed to John F. Kennedy International Airport and a charter flight that was carrying the Boston Celtics, which landed safely in Oklahoma City.
