Deep River Snacks Recalling Certain Bags Of Chips Over Salmonella Concerns

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Connecticut snack maker Deep River is recalling certain bags of sour cream and onion flavored kettle chips over salmonella concerns.

The company says buttermilk powder used in the seasoning may contain traces of salmonella. The recall includes two and five ounce packages with best buy dates of Nov. 5, 2016 through June 2, 2017.

"The health and safety of our consumers is always our top priority," Jim Goldberg, Deep River Snacks' founder and CEO, said in a statement on the company's website. "Although we haven't found any contaminants in either our seasonings or our finished products, we are taking great precautions to protect our customers."

So far, no illnesses have been reported.

The company says anyone who has the product should immediately discontinue use and contact Deep River at 860-434-7347 Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. or the US Food and Drug Administration at 1-888-SAFEFOOD (1-888-723-3366).
