Ex-Boyfriend Arrested In Connection With Murder Of NYC Correction Officer Alastasia Bryan

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The ex-boyfriend of NYPD correction officer Alastasia Bryan has been arrested in connection with her Dec. 4 shooting death.

Bryan, 25, was shot while inside her parked car at Avenue L and 73rd Street in Brooklyn. She was about to drive to Rikers Island where she had just started working as a correction officer a month ago.

Police said a man got out of a nearby vehicle and fired five rounds into the driver's side of her car, killing her instantly.

Keon Richmond, 33, was arrested in Flatbush on Wednesday by the New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force. He was found hiding in a basement closet, officials said.

Richmond is expected to be charged with torching another girlfriend's car and has at least 30 prior arrests, 1010 WINS' Al Jones reported.

No charges had been filed as of late Wednesday night, police told CBS2.

Mourning family, friends and neighbors remembered Bryan as someone who was driven and full of potential.

After her murder, Department of Correction Commissioner Joseph Ponte issued a statement saying the entire department "is in mourning" and "deeply saddened."
