Interior Designers Deck The Halls At SoHo Holiday House For A Good Cause

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Some designers are using beauty to help in the fight against a deadly disease.

Known as the Sullivan Mansions, two newly constructed luxury townhomes, located at 40 & 50 Sullivan St. in SoHo, have been designed to the nines to make up this year's Holiday House NYC.

Highly sought after designers seek out the chance to feature their work in the homes all for a good cause: breast cancer research.

It's a concept Iris Dankner created after her own battle with breast cancer, and was inspired by her two passions -- design and eradicating the disease.

"Holiday House really just developed from a dream and my dream has become bigger than I ever thought. It's really incredible," Dankner said.

For nine years, and with more than $1 million raised for research, this year's house is different than ever before as interior designers partnered with recognizable artists, photographers, and visionaries to overhaul the modern mansions.

Even celebrity fashion designer Brandon Maxwell, who custom designs all of Lady Gaga's looks, got involved. He contributed four gowns bringing the grand total of one room to more than half a million dollars.

The exquisite six-floor, 7,500-square-foot home includes a basement, rooftop, and backyard space. Room after room, highlights custom, hand made, furnishings, while others feature statement pieces including a $50,000 zebra statue and a $385,000 painting.

Other items are more affordable, so if you see something you like, speak up!

"You can buy anything in this house and 10 percent of the proceeds goes to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation," Dankner said.

Tickets are $40.

The homes are open until Jan. 8.

Both houses are also for sale, going for $17.5 million each.
