Newark Man Arrested After Accidentally Shooting Himself, Cops Say

NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A Newark man was arrested after allegedly shooting himself by accident on Friday night, authorities say.

Abdul Livingston, 52, was taken to University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries following the incident at around 9:45 p.m. While at the hospital, police say Livingston told authorities he was shot in the vicinity of 7th Avenue and 6th Street.

Upon further investigation, police uncovered that Livingston had instead accidentally shot himself in the vicinity of North 3rd Street and Hamilton Street.

Livingston was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
