4-Year-Old Queens Boy Reunites With First Responders Who Saved Him
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A 4-year-old boy injured in a car accident in Queens was reunited with the first responders who helped save his life.
Last month, Dylan Cresta was playing with a scooter in his driveway in Astoria when he was hit by a minivan and pinned underneath the vehicle.
Cresta received an early gift from Santa Claus on Sunday as he visited FDNY Ladder 117 & Engine 263, where he thanked the responders who rescued him.
The first responders say they are very happy to see Dylan is doing well.
"The only thing I cared about was getting the car off the child as quickly as possible," FDNY Lt. John O'Connor, Ladder 117. "There was no better feeling than when we got him out and he was crying, I couldn't be happier that he's alive and doing well. This was not your run of the mill pin job. There were lots of obstacles to overcome due to the angle of the vehicle and the environment. Every member involved played a critical role, everything had to be done quickly and done right."
"A lot of us have children and we all tended to and treated Dylan like he was our own," said Capt. Patrick Flynn from Haz-Tac Battalion. "Once the vehicle was lifted, we got hands on right away and performed a quick head to toe trauma assessment, stabilized the injuries and initiated advanced medical interventions."
No charges were filed against the driver involved in the incident.
