Wrong-Way Crash Leaves 2 Drivers Dead, 3 Passengers Hurt In South Amboy, N.J.

SOUTH AMBOY, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Two drivers were killed and three passengers injured in a wrong-way, head-on collision in South Amboy, New Jersey early Sunday morning.

Authorities say it appears a 2002 Nissan Quest, driven by Percell Livingston, 51, of East Orange, turned the wrong way onto Route 9 around 2 a.m. The minivan collided head-on with a 2011 Honda Odyssey, driven by Miguel Mendoza-Chong, 31, of Perth Amboy.

Both drivers were pronounced dead on the scene.

A 38-year-old male passenger and 23-year-old female passenger from the Honda were taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Medical Center with serious injuries. A 28-year-old passenger was also taken to Raritan Bay Medical Center, where she was treated and released.

The crash remains under investigation.
